Pandora.com is a music website where you can create your own "radio stations" by entering a band name or song name you like and it will search it's enormous data base and pick out other related songs. You can thumb down ones you don't like and it starts sorting your type of music based on your selections. It's what we play at home and work all the time! Oohhhohohh... just a website that changed my life is all! www.pandora.com/ It's an Internet Radio site... of sorts. These people got together and created this thing called the Music Genome Project... Where they took and analyzed (and are still doing it to this day) tens of thousands of songs, dissected them in to categories based upon lyrical structure, vocal style, instrumentation, tempo, emotion, chord structure, etc, etc, etc... So basically, you go to the site, put in an artist or song, and it will create a "station" based upon that artist/song. Then the site just streams music to you.. free.. one song after the other... And with each song, you can rate it as "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" and it further and further refines the stations artificial intelligence. And you can create tons of different stations for all different types of music! Basically it constantly streams new music that you'll most likely love. :) I've found so many amazing artists and music through their site. Also, you can bookmark songs, artists, make a favorites list, and clicking on an artist/song takes you to all this information about the artist, their discography, song samples, in to a staggering level of detail. Basically, it's my favorite site on the internet. Its so easy..... you type in a song/artist, and it plays you songs from other artists that have been recommended by fans of the artist you've typed in. I've been hooked on it for the last 3 hours, and have discovered about 10 CDs that I now MUST HAVE. Give it a try! - Moons** , posted 10/22/06 |
 this is an incredible tool for anyone who loves music and movement!! What I really like is how you can subtly shift the kind of music it is playing by adding new artists to the mix. so you're in a music rut and don't have the time or will to explore much. Pandora Internet Radio, in conjunction with the Music Genome Project, can take songs and artists you like, analyze similar musical qualities among about 400,000 songs [so far] in their database and offer you up other songs you might like. think of it as Tivo radio. - moonhilda , posted 06/23/06 |

My friend Sean recommended this site months ago, but I didn't visit the site until today. Oh My Gawd! I have found my new love. I have already had two orgasmic experiences just from my Tom Petty radio station. You put in an artist or a song and they play songs based on the type of music you have chosen. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this streaming music site. I will be posting my top new finds on my LiveJournal every day (or at least every few days). You simply type in an artist you like and they make a radio station based around that style. you can vote on each song that plays to help your little radio station better fine tune your style of music. you can make a whole bunch of radio stations... and if you dig something you can easily buy the song from itunes or the cd from amazon, and since they're trying to sell you stuff it's free!
